We need more housing in DC. There are so many interesting ways the stadium, if the building remains standing, could be incorporated into the needs of a residential community. If it's torn down, then the city as a whole could used more residential space. Let's dedicate it to that with plenty of green space to extend the nature we enjoy on Capitol Hill.

For me personally, I don’t want the district to agree to pay for a stadium that won’t really do anything for our neighborhood.  Aside from the fact that it just makes me mad that the billionaire owners don’t pay for stadiums themselves much these days, unlike ballparks and arenas, neighborhoods don’t grow and new businesses don’t come in and generate tax revenue around football stadiums…. probably because there are only a handful of home games a year.

CAUTION: EXTERNAL MESSAGE

What’s wrong with a stadium? When I first moved to DC there were football games there, as there had been for four decades, without much fuss. When the Nats came to town, everyone in the neighborhood walked to games there without any complaints. There’s plenty of room for housing, development, mixed use, etc.

Yup, and the Mayor want a new stadium.

You might have to support Charles on this one.

Wednesday at 10:00 AM the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability will debate the bill in a scheduled markup. (https://oversight.house.gov/release/comer-announces-full-committee-markup/), announced by Chairman James Comer (R-KY). The bill would 'transfer the administrative jurisdiction' of RFK from the Secretary of the Interior to the Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA), allowing the city to revitalize the site. The bill would extend D.C.'s lease with the federal government for 99 years and would allow the city to pursue mixed-use development on the RFK site, which could include commercial properties, housing projects, or even a stadium.
