[Lincolnparkdc] who organizes fireworks in park on July 4th?

I was told by an older African American, lifelong DC resident that it started when African Americans weren’t welcome on the Mall so they bought a few fireworks and did their own displays for their kids and families. So they found places like RFK, Lincoln Park etc to set them off. I think it’s gotten worse since places in Anacostia where lots of people used to watch the mall fireworks (like st Elizabeths) got closed off to the public. 

I enjoy them even as I know they are dangerous. And before he passed away last year, my older pup Metro hated them and cowered under the bed for hours.
