The people most affected by the lost parking spaces on 13th Street, SE (the first five houses off 13th Street, except one) are all long-time residents in their late 70’s or 80’s. The planned bike lanes correct the long ignored inequity issue of cars over  alternative modes of transport i.e., bikes, scooters. The loss of a few parking spaces and occasional inconvenience of having to walk extra feet is a rectifying compromise that car drivers will have to make, just as bike riders have had to compromise.
I do not see much weight in the arguments that having additional parking spaces will help in the reduction of street crime. Reducing street crime is a very important matter but I do not see it tied to constructing bike lanes.
