[Lincolnparkdc] 12th St and East Capitol St SE crosswalk into Lincoln Park

Good Morning Neighbors and Happy Thanksgiving,

I am currently in the process of requesting the DC Department of
Transportation conduct a Traffic Safety Assessment for the crosswalk at the
intersection of 12th St and East Capitol St SE, crossing into the southside
of Lincoln Park. I've only been living in the neighborhood for a little
over a year, but I go to the park everyday and regularly cars zoom by as I
attempt to cross the street safely. As a driver, I always come to a stop
and turn on my alert lights to warn other drivers as pedestrians cross,
however, I understand that people who do not live in the neighborhood may
not be as aware of the safety problem associated with this crosswalk.

Before submitting the application I just wanted to reach out and hear from
my neighbors, most of whom have lived in the neighborhood for many more
years.  Please provide any input on experiences with this specific
intersection and any formal/informal actions you may have taken (such as
requesting a Traffic Safety Assessment and the subsequent results).

Note: Please refrain from discussing other dangerous intersections or
problems with the proposed pylons on Kentucky Ave as there are other email
threads discussing these important topics.

Please provide an input by Thursday 3 December, so I can submit
the application promptly.  Thank you.
