(I'm not suggesting that this might be one of the things suggested, and who knows if this would have prevented this particular crash today, it's just something that has been successfully implemented elsewhere.) </div><div><br></div><div>DDOT is a little hamstrung on this stretch of East Capitol since it is a minor arterial, and not a residential street-even though it travels through a major, nearly exclusively, residential neighborhood. So DDOT can't put in a lot of traffic calming things without a lot of justification and sometimes, appeals to the national Federal Highways at the federal Department of Transportation. </div><div><br></div><div>I'll try to keep you updated as to what happens, but it's always helpful to get concurrence from the neighbors and ANC commissioners that support traffic calming efforts in our neighborhood.
