With animal hair and lint the pencil size hole can quickly get obstructed. I have had very little success cleaning using industrial detergents such as tsp and heavy soaking. I have resorted to changing the gasket which costs about $50 on Amazon. It is a good idea to use a pipe cleaner every laundry day to insert, twirl and draw out any obstruction.<div>Changing this gasket does require removing the front or the machine and buying special pliers to remove the spring retainer. But it’s not a difficult job and repair man should be done in an hour.</div><div>You can avoid this with religious devotion to keeping the drain clear, drying out the area when not in use.</div><div>Different manufacturers have different designs but the material is very similar in all brands.
