We’ve discussed ways to highlight and support the various small business stakeholders at the market, everything from a doing a documentary to doing an alumni vendor weekend. I’m there’s not a firm plan for this yet (beyond marketing), but it’s in the works.

Best,

Brian

Sent from my iPhone

On Mar 1, 2023, at 2:07 PM, Ken Jarboe <kpjarboe@gmail.com> wrote:

@font-face { font-family: "Cambria Math"; }

I would suggest that any promotional materials reinforce and reflect the theme of the market as a broad community activity, while recognizing that the building provides the context for that activity. It will be easy to fall into the habit of focusing on the buildings -- for example, using promotional pictures that are mostly about the building (and doesn’t include the flea markets). Again nothing here that you don’t already know and probably have heard over and over again.

My suggestion: there have been stories (hints, rumors, hear-say) about vendors going on to establish brick & mortar stores. It would be interesting to have an event on the role of the market as a small business incubator. Just a thought. No sure how you would go about setting such an session. I guess a conversation with Mike Berman and Tom Ralls would be a place to start.

All the best,

Ken

From: Brian Pate
Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2023 4:43 PM
To: Lincoln Park DC listserve
Subject: [Lincolnparkdc] Eastern Market 150th Birthday

Neighbors,

You may not be aware of this, but 2023 marks the 150th anniversary of continuous operations at Eastern Market.
