This is a reminder that ANC6B will be holding a virtual "Special Call" meeting on Wednesday Dec 1st at 7:30 pm for residents and ANC6B commissioners to review and comment on the the final map approved by the DC District Council sub-committee on Redistricting
on Nov. 19th. The full District Council will consider and vote on the subcommittee's proposed redistricting map in 2 upcoming sessions on Dec 2 and Dec 21. The map represents a plan for reapportionment of population between DC's 8 wards based on the results
of 2020 US Census. </div>

<u>The proposed plan will have significant implications for Ward 6 which currently has, by far, the largest population of the 8 wards and has experienced significant population growth in the past decade.</u> DC law requires that the populations of each ward
be essentially the same within a +/- margin of 5%. Consequently, the shrinking of Ward 6, as well as the legally mandated expansion of the Wards with lowest current population (Wards 7&8) are the key driving factors in the reapportionment. </div>

Close to home, the sub-committee report recommends the transfer of most of the Navy Yard area from Ward 6 to Ward 8. It also proposes major changes in the borders of ANC6B, transferring the area between 15th St SE and the Sousa bridge (as well as some other
areas) to Ward 7, resulting in ward changes for all or part of six of the ten single member districts (SMDs) within ANC6B. Specifically:</div>

Two notes in closing. First, <span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"><b>while the changes to ANC6B as a whole are far reaching, the current boundaries of our single member district, 6B05, remain, as of yet, unchanged.</b>
</span>Second, following the DC Council's approval of Ward level boundary changes in December, there will be a secondary redistricting exercise with each of the 8 Wards which will review the boundaries of ANCs in the newly-amended wards as well as the boundaries
of ANC single member district constitutencies. In Ward 6, Councilmember Allen will appoint a committee in December to lead the process of coming up with recommendations on Ward 6 ANC & SMD boundaries. That process will begin early next year and culminate in
a vote by City Council in June 2022.<br>

meetings which requires either a decision by the ANC executive committee or results from a petition by 3 or more ANC commissioners for the meeting to take place. In this case, Commissioners Corey Holman (6b06), Alison Horn (6B09) and Edward Ryder (6B07) made
this petition. They represent 3 of the 6 single member districts in ANC6B which are most directly changed through the proposed reapportionment. Convening of a properly noticed "Special Call" meeting allows the ANC to legally take positions and support resolutions
outside of its normal framework of meeting. "Notice" requires posting of the meeting in 3 public places, (in this case, the ANC6B website, the Hill Rag and Capitol Hill Corner on 11/24) one week before the proposed meeting.</i></span><br>
