I had sent the original information on this project to all residents of 6b05 last month. However, in the past several days have focused communication to residents of 100 block of Kentucky Ave SE who are directly affected. They have seen the second attachment
on this email which contains the preliminary design diagrams for the project which I only received tuesday afternoon this week. Others on this email received the original NOI but have not seen the preliminary design.</div>

Why I am copying this to the entire list at this point is because, in a phone meeting I had with Will Handsfield, DDOT project manager this afternoon, ( to clarify some of the implications of the more detailed and evolving diagrams received earlier this week),
it became obvious that there are clearly impacts on the 100 block of 13th St SE where it intersects with Kentucky as well as, on nearby areas of Independence Avenue SE. So, at the risk of sending this to many who may not be as interested, I'm erring on the
side of a wider distribution.</div>

<b><u>To note for residents of 100 block of 13th</u></b>, a crosswalk has been added to the design of the project which goes from the corner of 13th and Kentucky down to the eastern edge of 13th (just before it meets Independence). The drawings currently show
a consequent loss of one residential parking space on the western side of 13th St and potentially up to 4 parking spaces lost on the eastern side of 13th. This is, at least to me, new and I wasn't aware of it until yesterday.</div>

There has been a vibrant exchange of emails in the last two days, some of it in comment letters to Mr. Handsfield at DDOT, much of it however only on the Lincoln Park list serv. However, I took the liberty of forwarding all these comments on the project directly
to DDOT. Many residents have sent letters of support to DDOT. At the same time, an equal or higher number, upon seeing the preliminary designs, have raised concerns/objections mostly related to what appear to be the loss of many parking spaces. </div>

In my conversation with Will Handsfield this afternoon, he noted that he had read all of the comments sent by residents of the 100 blocks of Kentucky and 13th St and is meeting tomorrow with his team to make efforts to reduce the number of parking spaces affected
by implementation of the project. He expressed confidence that he could tweek the design in multiple places to reduce the number of residential parking spaces removed. He has promised to share an amended design at some point on monday. When I receive it, I'll
share immediately.</div>

In regard to multiple questions I received from some of you earlier this evening, based on the preliminary design that DDOT shared today, I asked Will Handsfield, the project manager, explicitly, how many parking spots the 100 block of Kentucky will lose
upon the implementation of this program. His answer was that about 10 feet of space at the sw corner of Kentucky and East Capitol which is now used for parking will no longer be available. He pointed out that according to DDOT regulations, the space there
is technically not available for parking now but that when they do a new project they check the distances, correct signs, etc. and as a result that that space will be affected.</div>
