<div dir="ltr">Although I share the concerns about parking that many have expressed, I agree with Mark. The current proposal is somewhat similar to the repaving, curb repair, and reconfiguration of 13th St north of Independence that I tried to get the city to do years ago. I do hope they don't make the changes without undertaking long overdue repairs to the street and curb. All the new marking will be for nought and will soon look like hell if it's put on a friable and degraded service. Broken curbs and pavement are also a hazard for pedestrians and bicyclists alike.<div>David</div><div>13th ST SE</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, Oct 14, 2020 at 10:55 AM Mark Jordan <<a href="mailto:mark@markjordan.me">mark@markjordan.me</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br clear="all"></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">In addition to improving the bike infrastructure on Capitol Hill, I think one of the virtues of the change will be to improve the safety of the crossing between Kentucky Ave and 13th St (<i>i.e.</i> the east side of Kentucky north of Independence). </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Currently, 13th is a relatively straight route as it crosses from south to north of Independence and cars driving through a green light can go pretty fast. I've been linking up with Mr. Handsfield since this all became public. The main concern I expressed was exactly this. That we need to know if there is going to be any loss of parking by implementing this. I asked him explicitly to answer regarding the 100
block of Kentucky Ave SE. He told me that there would be no need to lose parking spots on the 100 block. That being said, I just got this provisional sketch late today and have not been able to completely analyze it yet (or rather I've looked at it several
times but tried to decode it). Will Handsfield is supposed to be in our meeting tonite (which we're in the middle of right now) and I plan to ask him the question again and my views are going to be based on his answer. </div>
