They are basically under Martial Law with $350 Euro tickets given to anyone in groups larger than four people close together in any public setting. Driving is limited. Everything is and has been closed for weeks, EXCEPT grocery (include liquor and wine) and pharmacies. There has been no hoarding or reason to feel the need to hoard. Only one family member is allowed to go to the grocery or pharmacy at a time – there has not been crowds to limit how many are in the stores. All is not normal, but all is calm.

People across Italy have taken to Facebook and are doing daily things together in solidarity such as opening windows and doors and playing a musical instrument at X time, singing the national anthem at X time, going out your door at X time with a Prosecco and toasting your neighbor from a far, lighting lanterns in their front yards…all to remind them that they are in community even with the distance.

I expect Eastern Market will be there for us as it always has – please support it!
