<div dir="ltr">Yes. The regulation is just what u cited. Collection point is in front of each and every home. That massive mess on 12th and ind. Av SE WAS AN ILLEGAL DUMPING SITE. It was never authorized by city or ANC or anyone. I think now that this house
is privately owned and inhabited by owner just like the rest of us, that we owe that family the courtesy of removing that dump cite as a place for all the trash in the neighborhood. It is not and never has been an approved site for trash except the person
who lives at 158 12th street. Nobody else. That is his corner property. If people want to do this still they should petition the DC Gov and DPW thru ANC and do it legally and with safeguards that will allow that owner the same pleasant environment that everyone
else is afforded. So I say again this practice should stop at this last collection on Thursday. Just move cans where they belong and do the legal and neighborly thing for this house. </div>
<div dir="ltr">NIMBY certainly seems to be why there is any pushback after this week concerning that area. I rest my case. Do what is right. If people feel they can’t live without that corner do it thru proper channels and have ANC or council member help your
cause. If they get a waiver and the owner agrees good luck. I have no dog in this fight. I was just thinking folks should do the right thing. If not us, who??</div>

<div class="">The DC Municipal Regulations concerning putting out trash are as follows. They do not specify that trash must be put out in front of one’s dwelling, only at a collection point. The regulations cite “point of collection”. The curb at the SE corner
of Independence and 12th is a convenient collection point for both residents and for the trash collectors. If there is another part of the code that mentions requiring on to put out trash in front of one’s dwelling then provide the citation.</div>

I think. Where will all those bottles, candy wrappers, and crap go from passers-by? Probably right on the sidewalk!! So the trash will come home to roost folks. The greater good of one public can will now be spread all around the neighborhood with a big mess.
Isn’t that what many neighbors didn’t want so came up with that communal trash collection nightmare?? So be it. Unfortunate act of complete NIMBY!!!</div>
