Hi Dennis--
I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for your efforts to
deter crime and speeding on our block.
I understand the intent behind parking your cruiser, and I appreciate your
openness to moving it in light of the pedestrian safety concerns raised (in
this case by my wife, who kickstarted this email chain). Our often
ill-behaved kids cross there all the time, and they need all the
visibility they can get. So, again, thanks for moving it.
Also, sincere thanks for what you do. I lived on this block from
2010-2012, and I never had any safety issues. I came back in 2020, and I
had a tire theft with major damage to my car (tire fell off and cracked the
body of the car). A few months later my car was stolen and totaled. That
was followed up by a neighbor on the block, Jessica, being carjacked. And
that was followed up by a shooting on the block. I'm grateful
carjackings have fallen significantly from last year, but we had 152
pre-pandemic (2019) compared to 470 to date this year so I appreciate
any/all efforts to do something useful.
