April 17, 2024

Hello RFK Campus Community:

Events DC is mindful of the impact it makes on our neighborhoods and surrounding communities. With this in mind, we want to provide information about upcoming programming that will take place on the RFK Campus.

This year, Events DC has established a direct phone line for the community to call about their concerns - from traffic to trash, this number will be staffed from 1 hour before doors open to 1 hour after doors close each day of the outdoor festivals. Call to 202-249-3400 to avoid 311 and 911 for NON-EMERGENCY issues related to our operations.

This week the RFK Campus will host the return of the National Cannabis Festival<https://eventsdc.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef289742b6538dd233f2ae53a&id=3c66250a54&e=4722777333>, which has grown to a two-day festival this year. The National Cannabis festival celebrates progress on cannabis legalization in Washington, DC and across the nation with concert performances, Exhibitor Fair, Grower’s World, education programs, Munchies Zone, sponsor lounges and more. Project GLOW also returns the following weekend for it's third year, featuring art activations and light show of the Eternal Stage, Pulse Stage and Secret Garden.

On Friday, April 19, Thundercat <https://eventsdc.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef289742b6538dd233f2ae53a&id=a7b70b52a8&e=4722777333> will headline the show with gates opening at 3:00 PM and the show will end at 10:00 PM. Day one will expect 12,000 attendees. On Saturday, April 20, Wu-Tang Clan<https://eventsdc.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef289742b6538dd233f2ae53a&id=a7435ebee4&e=4722777333> featuring Redman, will headline the final night. Event time for day two is from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and will expect 20,000 attendees.

Next week, on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, Project GLOW will return for it's third year, celebrating over 20 years of dance music – peace, love, unity and respect. Throughout the weekend fans will dance to the sounds of some of EDM’s biggest headliners and edgiest artists, from ILLENIUM <https://eventsdc.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef289742b6538dd233f2ae53a&id=3c9b05b133&e=4722777333> to Zedd <https://eventsdc.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef289742b6538dd233f2ae53a&id=912f500921&e=4722777333> to Rezz <https://eventsdc.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ef289742b6538dd233f2ae53a&id=de7879ed8b&e=4722777333> and more. On both days, doors open at 1:00 PM and end at 11:00 PM, with 20,000 expected attendees for both days.

There will be several VMS (Variable Message Signs) boards throughout the community guiding attendees towards parking and the event. Event parking will be in Lots 1, 2, 3 and 6, and Oklahoma Avenue Lawn will serve as overflow parking. The festival gate entry will be at The Fields Pavilion, events will take place in Lot 8/8A.

Fencing has began being placed around the Anacostia River Trail, Independence Avenue, and C street. There will be temporary access closures around Lots 5, 7 (near Field 3) and 8 during event times. However, the access points to the trail will remain open from The Fields (between Fields 1, 2, and 3) and Benning Rd.

Please expect high volumes of pedestrian and vehicular traffic during during event times and at least until 11:00 PM on both days for the Cannabis Festival and until 12:00 AM for both days of Project GLOW. Rideshare pick up and drop-off will be in Lot 6 (near Benning Rd and Oklahoma Ave).

There will be increased traffic around the RFK Campus for this event. MPD (Special Operations Division) and DDOT (Traffic Control Officers) will be deployed to manage traffic and pedestrian crosswalks around the campus.

The Fields will be closed to the public on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, and Saturday, April 27, and Sunday April, 28.
