There is a barrow at back door of SE Library where books can be left. There is usually a sale on a Saturday once a month. They charge $1 for each book unless it is something special. The money goes to the Library and books that are not sold are kept for the next sale or passed on to some other group. I'm not sure whom.. Volunteers do all the work. I'm not a member of the workers so can't provide any additional info.

Any suggestions on where to dispose of old (but still readable) books? I don't even know if used bookstores take them anymore. I don't need to get paid for any of the books. The bibliophile in my just can't stand to put a bunch of books in the trash (or even the recycling).
I am aware of the neat little free library stands posted on various streets, and I can put a few in those libraries, but I have more books I need to get rid of than those libraries can hold.
