A very rich observation Sharon.
Many in the neighborhood supported bike traffic and formed a group to
present realistic options that countered the obvious problems inherent in
DDOTs, WABAs, and GGW plans. Charles Allen and those with a naive
understanding of how a city works ignored and actively worked against
reason. These problems are now playing out.
- The serious harm to local businesses; pushing consumers to large malls
with parking lots.
- Tripping hazards from bike lane curbs
- Emergency & Fire vehicle delay from reconstruction to one way streets
- Visual clutter from plastic white stick cones.
- Reduced sight line visibility when crossing the street
- Increased hazard to person and property from those who STILL speed on
roads now too narrow.
- Conditions that encourage bad behavior and incite road rage from bikers
and auto drivers
- Wasted resources used for a bicyclists boutique vanity project.
