[Lincolnparkdc] Anyone recognize this person

I don't want to discourage us from sending out alerts on suspicious activity, and I also want to make sure that every law-abiding person continues to be welcome in our neighborhood.  

I get the same DC crime alerts everyone else does, and I know that the "LOF" ("Look Out For") most often references black men.  I also know that the vast majority of black men walking in our neighborhood are not criminals.  They are our neighbors, our friends, the friends of our neighbors and friends, etc.  

The way to manage this tension, I think, is to focus on actions rather than identities.  For example, was this man trying door handles or windows? Did he put on a face mask that covered his features? Did he have a weapon? Was he shouting obscenities, threatening pedestrians, making unwelcome physical contact with anyone? Taking packages from front porches? Or was he simply an unfamiliar black man? 

My intent is to be helpful, not accusatory.  I recognize that I may have missed something in Mia's email, and I know I wasn't there to see what she did.  These are challenging times for crime in our neighborhood, and we are all trying to help each other.  I think we can do this more effectively if we focus our efforts in the way I'm suggesting.

My camera caught this guy this am and when I went to check out  the third floor camera I saw he was walking all around Sladen’s park from the dry cleaners cul de sac in the back to my neighbors’ cul de sac looking down at his iphone. I hate being so suspicious but……Anyone recognize him? Mia
