[Lincolnparkdc] Smashed glass and recycling on NYE

Holy Sh*t!!! Seriously?? A few months back someone filled both our recycling and trash with what appeared to be an entire expired pantry. No bags. Just items and items of dried food stuff, which the trash men did not take away which meant I had to bag it up myself in half a dozen bags and then wash the trash cans (that were teeming with maggots) while gagging.
Do you know what I did?
Exactly nothing.
I considered putting up a camera so I could have a word with the neighbor if it happened again, but never in a million years would I have dumped the trash back in a suspected neighbors’ yard. And In your case… it was trash that would have been picked up with the normal pick up!
I would encourage you to ask all of your neighbors if they have cameras pointing in the ally. The person who did this should be called out.
The only thing I’d like to add is that there is a mentally ill woman who occasionally returns to the Lincoln park neighborhood and has a habit of tipping trash cans around Lincoln Park. I sort of hope it was her, because if this was an actual neighbor of sound mind, they should have had the balls to talk to you directly about their displeasure. I suspect whoever did this isn’t on this list so this is likely screaming into the void, but if the guilty party is a member… shame on you.

CAUTION: EXTERNAL MESSAGE
To the neighbor who threw glass bottles and recycling at my house and patio on New Year's Eve:
Yes, maybe my husband put a bag of recycling into your *empty* recycling bin which is left unmarked along with the 8-10 other cans at the end of the alley between 12th and Kentucky. Maybe you, like us, were surprised by the trash pickup on the observed federal holiday last Monday after Christmas. So maybe you could have understood that with all the holiday packages, holiday gatherings with wine and beer and adult children's inexplicable love for Topo Chico, a lot of recycling cans are overflowing.
Maybe it was annoying, but did you really have to take that bag of *clean* recycling, mostly cans, bottles and cut up boxes, and toss it over my fence, breaking glass all over the patio? Thanks also for throwing two Topo Chico bottles at my glass patio door, narrowly missing the glass, but now there's smashed glass all over my porch as well as my patio. What a way to start the New Year, realizing I have a neighbor who was so unhinged by the bag of recycling in their empty bin, that they tried to smash my patio door by chucking glass bottles at it on New Year's Eve.
I hate it when people put poopy bags of trash in my bin, but if there's an extra trash bag in it, or someone's extra recycling in it I don't really care. It is a trash bin, and if there's enough room to hold more, so what? I'll also point out that we routinely take all those unmarked trash cans to the street when they are full (and not with our trash!) and bring them back after pickup.
Related: someone has taken our regular trash can (which was marked with blue tape on the handle) so if you see a lost can, or have an extra, we would appreciate having it back.
Happy f-ing New Year.
