[Lincolnparkdc] Reseeding in Lincoln Park

As others have said, this is a frustrating annual cycle. Has anyone ever had a conversation with NPS about what could be done to fix this in a more permanent way, and what resources would be required to do that? I’m thinking about the effort on the Mall 5-10 years ago where they did a major project to re-grade/replace turf with a different type of grass, with more intentional ongoing maintenance, with planned periodic closures throughout the year, etc.
It seems like the conversations on this always land back at the unleashed dog conversation, but it seems like part of the reason it gets destroyed by heavy use (by dogs and others) is that it hasn’t been adequately engineered to withstand heavy use and doesn’t drain well.
I would love to know what could be done, if money weren’t a consideration for NPS. I think if there was a bigger solution put forward, perhaps there could be a long term community effort to raise money to make it happen.

If an effort was made to nicen up the dog park, something like Swampoodle, I would go to Kingman every day with my dog. Swampoodle is too far a walk to get to, so we drive on weekends. Is anything in the works to spruce up Kingman?

As Jeni and NPS's request note, a big part of why the grass in the center keeps dying is the intensive wear caused by unleashed dogs running around. When NPS fences it in the grass looks great, then as soon as the fences come down the grass starts to disappear. The park does need watering and better maintenance by NPS, but they need help from the rest of us to avoid damaging the grass. On the other hand the new Kingman Dog Park at 14th and Tennessee was built specifically for the purpose of giving our canine friends a place to play._______________________________________________
