[Lincolnparkdc] DC Water will shut off water for one night next week to 7 blocks in Lincoln Park area

DC Water has notified ANC6B that they will need to shut off water to 64 residential addresses in the area immediately south of Lincoln Park for one night at some point next week (Mon Sept 19 - Fri Sept 23).  The impacted addresses are in the following 7 blocks:

  *   1200 and 1300 blocks of East Capitol Street SE
  *   1200 and 1300 blocks of Massachusetts Ave SE
  *   100 block of 13th Street SE
  *   100 block of 14th Street SE
  *   1300 block of A Street SE

(not all addresses on these blocks are expected to be affected. For a list of specific addresses see below)

DCWater does not have an exact date yet. They require a special permit to undertake nighttime work which in turns needs the endorsement of the ANC commissioners for the affected single member districts, in this case ANC6B05 (which I currently represent) and ANC6B08. We will be providing them with that letter later today. Once they get the permit, they will determine the exact date of the water shutoff. They will notify residents, 72 hours in advance, through doorhangers on individual addresses. In the past, they have usually been diligent at doing this. But, it doesn't always work. If you live on one of the affected blocks, keep an eye out for this. I'll also post on this listserv when I am notified of the date.

I have asked DC Water to notify ANC6B if the list of residences affected by the tempoarary water shutoff changes or extends beyond the list of addresses below:

Note: ANC6B08 was represented by Commissioner Peter Wright who moved out of DC in August and consequently resigned. DC election law does not allow ANCs to hold special elections to fill vacancies occurring within 6 months of a previously scheduled election. So, until next January, there is no commissioner to specifically represent residents in 6B08. As I've noted previously, I'll do what I can to fill the gap during that period.
