Several years ago I found a microfiche copy of the building permit, a partial 1st floor floor plan, and a plan of the facade in he Washingtonian section of the MLK library. Also plat of the neighborhood. And directories, cross-listed by resident and by address, in the old Carnegie Library. Not sure where those directories are now. House was built in 1907.

When many of our homes were built (1890s or so), the trolleys were running - on east capitol street, around lincoln park, and up the few blocks to the trolley turnaround, then back down east capitol on the north side of the park.

I’m thinking that electricity and indoor plumbing were common in new homes at the turn of the last century. I did learn that, while new houses had fireplaces, they often (usually?) had electric fireplaces INSIDE the brick openings.

Hi Diana et al,

I consulted a friend who does a lot of local architectural research.  According to her, not many older houses still have existing plans.  If they were filed with the building permit back in the day, they might exist--and would be at the National Archives in College Park, but chances are1 in 1-100 for that to be the case.
