[Lincolnparkdc] Postal Service Problems Letter from Charles Allen

David

I don’t think anything has changed. Somebody just changed to a different excuse box they used to explain why they hadn’t delivered rather than say they had when they hadn’t.

This is all before the new USPS delivery standards go into effect tomorrow.

Recently others posted to this list how pleased they were with their carrier. I’m wondering why more routes don’t have permanent carriers. Is there a hiring freeze? Can they hire but can’t offer enough compensation? Is it part of bigger problem that many jobs are going unfilled due to lack of applicants?

I don’t think local post office manager has the resources/authority to solve the problem. Not sure if postmaster for all of DC does or if the problem goes higher.

If Congresswoman Norton is getting any substantive answers from USPS, they haven’t been publicized.

John

Last night USPS tracking told me they had attempted to deliver an Amazon package but couldn't because my "driveway or front door was obstructed," which is nonsense. No "attempt" was made. This has happened to me many times now. Blaming the homeowner has become a common way for USPS to conceal their failure to deliver the mail from clients like Amazon.
