[Lincolnparkdc] Theft from car last week on 13th

Apparently this is a common thing now: someone comes and cuts off your
exhaust pipe and steals your catalytic converter in the middle of the
night. They can get a few hundred bucks for it and it'll cost you (or your
insurance) $2000 (off the cuff quote from David at Hill Auto, do not have
an official estimate yet, but State Farm will cover it, yay).

Not sure when it happened as I was away from last Weds-Sunday night. I was
parked on 13th near Independence in the 100 block, along the grassy bit at
the end of the block. The insurance adjustor asked if any of my neighbors
had cameras that might have covered where the car was and I"m pretty sure
not, but I said I'd post a query.

Mostly though, I"m posting to let people know--I'd never heard of this but
both David, and the State Farm guy, said "oh yeah this is constantly
happening now, you're the 4th or 5th person I've dealt with in last day or
two about this."

Not that there's a lot you can do about it--but apparently you can put a
cover on it to deter, so I'll be asking about that...
