[Lincolnparkdc] NO PARKING ON Kentucky Avenue for Five Weeks

Gina

Thank you for confirming the reason for the no parking signs is related to the Advisory Bike Lanes.

It does NOT provide any rationale for why no parking needs to be prohibited for more than a couple of days in any given block. Five weeks is totally unreasonable. They are already doing considerable work without prohibiting any parking.

The only possible explanation is the contractor is either too lazy or too inept to manage the contract in such a way to minimize the inconvenience to the residents of these blocks. It also implies DDOT is doing a very poor job of overseeing this contract or they would not be permitting this.

Does this also mean after prohibiting parking on the west side weeks, it will be followed by prohibiting parking on the east side for another five weeks.

John

For people who use their car every day, like my husband who leaves the house at 7am and doesn't return home until well after 5pm, this will be fine. If you typically store your car (like me with my minivan) on our block for days or weeks at a time, just move it to the other side of Kentucky, or some other block for those days. This way the striping teams will be able to get a good cleaning of our street before the paint goes down. First Choice Masonry is the DDOT contractor.
