Hazel can you elaborate on why you think the Committee of 100 has purview
over DDOT's implementation of transportation improvements? I believe I
mentioned some months ago that the paint striping and hardscape elements
(such as flexposts, or crosswalks) does not impact a historic district, and
DC SHPO has confirmed DDOT's ability to install them wherever necessary.
If what DDOT did to improve the safety and flow of *all traffic modes*
through historic districts (such as paving, striping, stop signs, lights,
etc) somehow violated the architectural standards of a historic district we
would have to go back to unpaved streets. And horses. And no car parking.
Please keep us all updated.
