[Lincolnparkdc] For 65 and over residents: A few extra anxiety-reduction safeguards to expect in the Vaccine portal tomorrow and Friday

Neighbors,

The vaccine portal ( https://coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccinatedc) when it reopens tomorrow morning has been modified as follows:

Age 65 & over residents will only be able to access the portal tomorrow (Thursday, Jan 21) if their address is in one of the "strategic" zip codes. The system is now designed to bump out anyone immediately if they are from another zip code.

As DOH announced, Age 65 & over residents from ALL zip codes will have access to the vaccine portal the next day ( Friday Jan 22nd). There are only 740 vaccine appointments available on Friday morning. Obviously, they will go quickly. There are two new changes to the system to try to make things more user-friendly and reduce wasted effort and frustration:

When individual sites run out of vaccine appointments/vaccines, the system will automatically remove them from the options list and won't be visible.

Once all the appointments on all the sites are taken, the portal will close down, and people won't be able to get into it again until it reopens with more available appointments.

Also, The "captcha" function included in the site, which previously popped up twice and had created difficulties has been reduced to one place at the beginning of the application access.

best,

 Steve

Steve Holtzman, 6B05

Note: in an email some of you received on Tuesday, before the list of strategic zip codes was available, I made the comment that 20002 and 20003 zip codes were not likely to be included.. Everyone I sent it to, I think, lives in 20003. And zip code 20003 is not included for tomorrow. However, zip code 20002 is included. So, if anyone shared my email further north beyond ANC6B, please forward the information in this one too. 20003 zip code is NOT listed as a strategic zip code. 20002 zip code however IS llsted as a strategic zip code.

COVID-19 Vaccine Updates

January 20, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccine

Beginning at 9:00 am on Thursday, January 21, 2,235 additional vaccination appointments will be made available for District residents who are 65 years of age and older and/or health care workers and who live in priority zip codes.

The priority zip codes cover most of Wards 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 and include: 20001, 20002, 20009, 20010, 20011, 20012, 20015, 20017, 20018, 20019, 20020, 20030, 20032, 20039, 20040, 20056, 20059, 20060, 20064, 20223, 20242, 20260, 20306, 20317, 20340, 20373, 20375, 20422, 20441, 20509, 20542, and 20593.

Priority zip codes include areas of the city where residents are disproportionately affected by COVID-19, including number of cases and mortality rate.

Demand for the vaccine is high, and we anticipate the appointments to fill quickly. If you have internet access, you should register for an appointment through vaccinate.dc.gov. If you do not have internet access, call the District’s hotline at 855-363-0333 beginning at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow to register for an appointment.

On Friday, January 22, at 9:00 a.m., 740 additional appointments will become available to any DC resident who is 65 and older or any individual who works in a health care setting in DC.

If you previously attempted to get an appointment and you did not receive a notification with a confirmation code, date and location, you must re-register. We appreciate your patience as we work together to get Washingtonians across all eight wards vaccinated.

Currently demand for the vaccine in DC is much higher than the supply we are receiving from federal government. Mayor Bowser and DC Health continue to advocate for the federal government to send more vaccine so that we can meet the high demand for it and protect the lives of our residents and our workforce.
