Lincoln Park Neighbors,
Please be aware of how, when and where you dispose of your pet’s
(particularly dog) waste. Your neighbor’s green trash cans are *not* the
proper receptacle for your pet’s packet of poop.
The proper container in which this package is to be disposed is your own
trash can or a public litter can. For the less knowledgeable, an image of a
public litter can is available here:
https://dpw.dc.gov/service/litter-can-collection-and-installation. They are
typically found close to the park and similar public spaces.
Observant neighbors may have noted that DC sanitation workers typically
empty the residential trash cans by removing the bags they contain and
dropping them into the truck. Trash cans are *not *typically tipped into
the garbage truck to be emptied.
Less responsible pet owners, who do not dispose of their pet’s waste in the
proper place, should be aware that their pet’s waste can end up on at the
bottom of their neighbor’s can. This means that your neighbor is forced to
complete your duty to properly dispose of your pet’s doody.
Please be considerate of your neighbors and remember that your pet’s waste
is your responsibility. It does not belong in your neighbor’s yards, or in
your neighbor’s trash cans.
Thank you for your consideration.
