It will let you know what letters you should receive each day.  Sometimes, letters come a day or two later than expected, but it is usually accurate.  This lets you know if a “mail piece” (as they call them) disappears completely.  Signing up can be a pain since, if an identity thief signs up as you, it could be a major problem.  That is another reason to sign up for Informed Delivery for your address: so that an identity thief can’t. 

PS: It works for packages, too.
