[Lincolnparkdc] Please sign petition to cancel the standardized test for DC schools this year

Lincoln Park Neighbors,

Hope you're warm on this cold, damp day.

After discussions with parents and teachers, school leaders and community members across the city, Ward 6 parents (via the Ward 6 Public Schools Parent Organization (W6PSPO<https://w6pspo.org/>)) initiated this petition<https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/for-the-sake-of-students-cancel-testing-por-el-bien-de-los-estudiantes-dc-debe-de-cancelar-el-examen-parcc?source=direct_link&> to cancel PARCC standardized testing for this school year (via requesting the US Department of Ed waive it for DC).

We're hearing from parents they want schools to prioritize instruction, social and emotional support, and planning for safe Term 4 reopening expansion (and for summer AND for next school year).

Because the PARCC requires all hands on deck from teachers, counselors, and administrators, even if your own kids do not participate, they will likely be affected by the school-wide draw on staff time to plan, prep, code, test and package (it goes on for months). Finally, the results from testing will be unreliable this year, as there is no way for schools to control to the vastly different learning experiences students have endured (nor the vastly different conditions they will test under while at home or at school).

We've lost so much time this year, I cannot personally bear to think my kids' school will also waste time on this.
