If you know it is the same guy as from a previously reported crime, it helps to use the magic words “second sighting” and give the report (CCN) number of the earlier crime.  That may get faster response, but if they are all tied up with an ongoing crime then nothing will speed the response.

If anyone has reported this particular person before, please share your CCN number.  Bear in mind that the CCN number can be used to obtain the report, which may have sensitive information, so you might want to share it only with a limited number of trusted people.

Jeni, you may want to give the prior CCN(s) when you make your report, so they cops know that this is a serial criminal.

Just as a warning for the neighborhood, the bike thief with the bolt cutters was back this afternoon and casing out the same alley between Kentucky & 13th Street.  Lock your bikes!  The police were called but didn't turn up for the 5-10 minutes I was waiting out there, which would have been plenty to steal a bike.

The video is excellent.   I would hope that it results in a prompt arrest and conviction of the thief - and the recovery of the bike.

I would be interested in knowing more about your security camera set up.   I would like to think that if more neighbors had such high quality video security cameras, would-be thieves would go else where or ideally choose another line of work or entertainment.

I would be curious to know if you installed it or had a professional do it and what the requirements / limitations of the system are, such as whether it is hard wired or wireless, etc.

Today at about 9:30AM the person in these videos stole a bike from the backyard of 1207 East Capitol.  He used a trash can to jump over the fence into the yard.  Then tonight at 9:22PM he returned and was looking into several back yards in the alley between the 100 blocks of Kentucky and 13th.  Please call 911 if you see this person again.  Security camera footage from my house (112 Kentucky) is below.  Hopefully it’s just property crime but it is rather creepy to see him peering into people’s yards.
