[Lincolnparkdc] Any experience with lead in water pipes abatement?

We are also having this done.  This project has been going on for some time on Capitol Hill.  It is our understanding that several others on the block will also have it done.  Because the inside work on our house is already done, DC Water is paying for the outside work and we pay nothing.  I am aware that another house close to us is also going to have the project done.Hazel113 Kentucky.

We are doing it and I believe my neighbor is too. While it seems a bit pricey as the city pays up to your front wall it adds some real benefit. First, the size is upped up to one inch. That will allow more devices and flow rate. Second you get a new ball valve shut off inside the house for securing water the water when you need to shut off. Of course you get rid of the lead pipe.
I think this is somewhat of a scam though because the resident is paying for 12 INCHES of pipe and a shut off valve. I am doing it because I want the larger pipe and flush shutoff.
