[Lincolnparkdc] Fwd: re bike lanes

Just because the signs are being moved, nothing will be placed preventing
people from still accessing those already illegal parking spaces at the end
of the block. The additional setbacks are needed for the safety of
pedestrians who look both ways, regardless of the stated direction of
traffic, and with parked cars encroaching on the corners (illegally) they
are really hard to look around. At least during the day the people parking
their cars will hopefully leave those spaces open, for the safe passage of
older, younger and middle aged pedestrians.

And as Jonathan noted, not all cars are the same size, so we just may see a
shifting of various car sizes. And remember, this is public space, for use
by *all travelers*, not just for parking and storage of our cars when we're
not using them. And I get it, I really do! George comes home late from work
A LOT, and he often parks blocks away. But just as we all choose our small
rowhouses with only 2-3 bedrooms, we choose this minor inconvenience
instead of a 5 bedroom house in the suburbs with a 2 car garage and an
endless driveway for parking our cars.

Best,
Gina
