[Lincolnparkdc] Parking on Kentucky

Thank you , Sharon. Totally echo your concern about the loss of parking spaces. I am already parking on SC, during normal times, in the evenings and have to walk a few blocks. In looking at the drawings sent earlier, it looks like we will lose a few spots in the SE corner of KY and 13th. If the traffic is one way on both sides heading north, do we need a 20ft setback? Also, the crossover of the bike lane in the SW corner by KY and Indp. Seems odd and looks to take away a spot or two. If you are a late night Parker, like me, those corner spots are coveted. Right there it looks like 3-4 spots. This is what I saw at a quick glance.

I would also question why we have not tried other solutions first to reduce the speed? We all know that people will continue to bolt down KY heading north to avoid the light on 13th and mass. They will also head South to get to Indp. and Penn. Maybe fix the timing of the lights?

To me, the corner at East Cap to KY is the worst. I think we all look twice before crossing. Cars often come around that corner at speed to make the light at indp. We asked for an extended curb at the corner of East Cap after a bicyclist (a neighbor) was hit several years ago. It was a no at the time because we are major cross street. Did things change.

I have expressed these views to mr. Handsfield previously.

That we need to know if there is going to be any loss of parking by implementing this. I asked him explicitly to answer regarding the 100 block of Kentucky Ave SE. He told me that there would be no need to lose parking spots on the 100 block. That being said, I just got this provisional sketch late today and have not been able to completely analyze it yet (or rather I've looked at it several times but tried to decode it). Will Handsfield is supposed to be in our meeting tonite (which we're in the middle of right now) and I plan to ask him the question again and my views are going to be based on his answer.
