We've lived on the 100 block of Kentucky Avenue SE since 1963 and see no need for pylons at Kentucky and East Capitol.Hazel Kreinheder

Echoing Peter's comment: I also suggested that something be done at the intersection of Kentucky and East Capitol.  This idea has come up in a number of conversations with various neighbors over the years, so I doubt that Peter and I are the only people who think this is a good idea and we likely aren't the only people who made this suggestion.  That said, the solution doesn't have to be pylons.
The proposed new crosswalk is a valuable safety improvement.  It's challenging to cross the street there with a stroller, a child on a bike, or even just a slow-walking child.  Requires squeezing between parked cars, peeking around to watch for traffic, hurrying across, and getting up onto the opposite curb before traffic reappears.  Whether it goes across 13th Street or to the Kentucky Ave. island, the crosswalk needs to be kept in the design._______________________________________________
