[Lincolnparkdc] Pylons added to original design Kentucky @ East Capitol

Hi,
I guess I am the jerk who suggested that we extend the curb or do something at the corner of KY and East Capital. Not sure that I said add Pylons, but something to slow down the cars when entering our street. The suggestion of a raised sidewalk was a good one too. To my knowledge, this is the only part of KY where there has been an accident in my 15 years on the block.
I expressed and re-iterated this need on the call yesterday as the new design added pylons where they were not needed and would not slow anything down. My intent was to remove the pylons as they were in the new design so the neighbors at the top of street could drop off groceries etc. as they have been as long as I have been on the street. No matter what we say, they will paint no parking stripes from the sidewalk and x feet in on the street.
It was pretty obvious from the call yesterday that a bike lane will go forth, so my goals was to see if we could budge their designs a bit to help reduce lost parking spots. For example, in an earlier recommendation I had also suggested that we make the bike lane straight at the corner of Ky south and Independence. It was now part of the new design and parking spots have been saved. The point is that they are willing to adjust.
I am not a fan of all the pylons and lost parking spots. However, I do think we can add bike lanes and cross walks in a smart ways to maintain the aesthetics our neighbors.
Btw, I think I am not alone is making this recommendation at the top of the street.
If there’s an alternative recommendation, I am sure they would be open to hearing them.
Lastly, I know this a passionate topic, but please don’t name call. It really does not help.
Thanks,
- Peter
