TODAY Eleanore Norton Holmes introduced legislation to Congress asking them to remove the Emancipation Monument in Lincoln Park in Washington, D.C. IN HOUSE RESOLUTION HR7466 This memorial to President Lincoln was paid for by the formerly enslaved, fugitive slaves and the Unions’ U.S. Colored Troops who knew Lincoln as the President that led us through our greatest trial to emancipate the ancestors of some of those who wish to remove it!!!  We cannot let Congress remove this important history placed there with the hard earned funds of the formerly enslaved!  
This monument belongs to our entire country! As our Nations’ capitol, Washington D.C. should set a model of how we show respect for our history. Many of our ancestors who were enslaved paid for that monument to Lincoln, thankful for Emancipation!
