[Lincolnparkdc] Nannies with little kids in Lincoln Park

I had a similar experience several months ago.  I had walked my beagle toward the north side of the park to speak to a friend.  Upon return the dog and I walked close to the fence of the play field.  He loves small children so we stopped to watch them play.  A little white girl about age 2 wearing pink came up to the fence to see the dog.  I held him far enough back so they could not touch each other.  However, the little girl who was away from all the other children and adults stayed near us for at least ten minutes or more.  Not one of the adults looked up toward us or made any attempt to come get the child.  After quite a long time, one nanny finally looked around, realized the child was missing and ran to get her.  I watched to see how long it would take for any one to come collect her as I was getting worried and did not want to leave her alone as no adult was nearby.  To make a long story short, the fence is low enough that I could have easily reached over and grabbed the child as not a single adult paid any attention to her or me.
As one who unfortunately has no grandchildren, I love seeing all the neighborhood children. Please keep them safe!

Subject: [Lincolnparkdc] Nannies with little kids in Lincoln Park

Ohh Moms, I live on Lincoln Park and more often than I would like I see Nannies stand FAR away from their infants while they play.  Today was particularly distressing when a little girl aged max 3 dressed in pink was playing behind a tree with no visible guardian anywhere nearby.  I Stood 10 feed away from her --as I had my puppy — and asked her if she knew where her mommy was… she did not know.  The only person was a woman way across the park with a Baby pusher for two covered with a shawl to protect them from the sun.  I called to her but did not get a response.  The Park K9 police were on the street so I went up to him as I was worried.  Turned out that woman was indeed the guardian.  She could not speak any english or barely.
I know we feel safe in our beloved Lincoln Park but please please ask your nannies not to be SO far away from their children, especially not way ACROSS the Park!  As the police man said to the woman, being able to SEE your charge is not enough, you must be near them.  I do not think she understood.  Onward.
