[Lincolnparkdc] Large Package Theft

Dear Neighbors -

At 6:08 pm today (Nov. 21), a large brown package weighing 50+ lbs. was stolen from our front porch on 13th St SE btwn Independent and Mass. Avenues. Unfortunately, the shipper placed it in direct sight of the street and it attracted the attention of an individual canvassing the neighborhood pulling a rollerbag for package collection.

The police have been contacted and are in possession of the front door video capture of the incident. As the thief struggled with the burdensome package, he encountered dog walkers and a cyclist as he blocked the sidewalk before heading north toward Mass. Ave. If you happened to observe such an individual or the accomplice who later joined him, I would be happy to let MPD know if you have any useful information to add to the police report.

As we approach the holiday season, this incident is a good reminder on the perils of package delivery. So far at our house we have been lucky because shippers have put most deliveries out of immediate view. This package contained a large custom winter canvas. Although costly for me to purchase, I suspect it has little aftermarket value. Therefore, if you do happen to come across a discarded cardboard box containing heavy, beige, plasticized canvas around the neighborhood, please do let me know.
