[Lincolnparkdc] Trash at Corner of 12th & Independence SE

I apologize for people receiving this email who do not live near this
corner.  Attached are two photos of the trash/yard waste that have been
piling up near the corner of 12th St & Independence SE during the past 2 or
more weeks.  Sanitation has not touched the trash pile and when I called
today to request it get picked up I received pushback about the problem,
but supposedly an agreement to pick it up.

One of the photos shows how people have decided it is a good place to leave
dog waste bags and while I was taking the photo a dog urinated on the paper
bags.  I am sure one of many.

If any of you live in the area, please contact the sanitation department
and urge them to pick up the bags (202-673-6833).  I was transferred 4
times before having someone actually take down the information while
telling me he has never seen anyone leave a bag of trash in front of
someone else's house.

While I understand leaving trash in bags is illegal, we have no way to get
rid of them without Sanitation picking them up.  In the meantime, they are
a public health problem.
