As I understand it, Amazon will send a “delivered” notice when the package reaches the USPS delivery truck even though the package hasn’t been delivered to your doorstep. So, unless the notice-of-delivery was sent by USPS it may not have actually been delivered. Second, USPS drivers will indicate that a package has been delivered while it’s still on the truck and not on your doorstep - I’ve received a “delivered” notice only to have the package actually arrive hours later. Third, if a USPS driver forgets or fails to actually deliver a package (often), they may indicate that they attempted delivery to satisfy Amazon and their supervisor but deliver it the next day. And, fourth, they may have delivered it to the wrong address. USPS seems to be the least reliable delivery. My experience is that UPS delivers on time and at a regular time.
FedEx Ground appears less reliable than UPS (it’s the old Railway Express system bought by FedEx and appears to operate separately from Fedex Express which is more reliable.) The separate operations appear to result from the fact that FedeEx Express is nonunion and FedEx Ground is a union shop regulated under the Railway Transportation Act (or something like that). (More than you wanted to know.)
One alternative is Jenks Hardware on Bladensburg Road two blocks off of Maryland Avenue. They accept UPS packages for receiving and sending and possibly others - you’d have to check. They’re open 7 days/week. And it’s a good owner operated hardware store with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. They also have a very long history in DC.

> Hello all,Does anyone know whom to contact at the SE station or otherwise about the following problem?Package delivery at our address has become extremely unreliable over the past several months. Tracking indicates that delivery was attempted when it really wasn't, or that there is "no access to delivery location" although our front door is just a few steps from the sidewalk. No notice is left to tell me how to get my package, and no delivery occurs on the next business day despite tracking saying it will.I suspect our carrier or carriers post such tracking updates to show they made a delivery attempt when in fact they haven't. Meanwhile I am left wondering how to get my package. I have talked to the Southeast Station on Penn. Ave. about this They told me to contact a Mr. Hubbard at 202 523 2104 or 202 523 2559. The first number is always busy and the second one never answers. I have also used the usual customer service online form at USPS to no avail.Any ideas?David13th St SE_______________________________________________
