[Lincolnparkdc] Stolen Wheels - Response to Lincoln Park Listserv

It’s not an isolated incident. There has been a rash of wheel thefts on the Hill for several months and the police are aware of it but apparently are unable or unwilling to take effective action.

Wheels from two Jeeps were taken several weeks ago on the 100 block of 10th Street NE and from a Mini Cooper a short time later. Apparently the thieves are filling an order and the thefts are not random.

It may be useful to obtain wheel locks - check Amazon - which replace one or more of the lugs holding the wheels in place. It’s not perfect and I’m told some of the thieves keep a set of “keys” for all the wheel lug-locks on the market. It may, however, slow them down sufficiently so that they’ll go elsewhere other than your car rather than take the time and risk of dealing with the lugs on your car.
