Election Day is November 6th and early voting is happening now through November 2nd (in Ward 6 at Sherwood Rec Center and Greenleaf Rec Center). I wanted to highlight State Board of Education – Ward 6 representative. Whether you are a parent or not, a strong education system is an important part of continuing to strengthen all of our communities and neighborhoods. I support Joe Weedon for re-election because I believe he is the best candidate to help us continue to improve schools for all students.

I have had a front row seat to Joe's work for the past 8 years, and value his work at the policy level, by using best available research to educate families on options, then advocate for DC education policy (across agencies) in a manner which reflects actual, local parent and teacher voices. I also value Joe's work on the ground - he knows our teachers, principals, students, and families because he spends time in our schools and in classrooms, implementing programming.

But don't just take my word for it. Joe has been endorsed by community leaders, educators and parents: Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6), Councilmember Robert White (At-Large), Washington’s Teachers, the Jews United for Justice, and many PTA leaders, ANC members, and parent and community members from across Ward 6.
