We have had a tankless water heater for about ten years. It is very
efficient. I think it was about $900. I bought a Japanese model on
line. When I bought they had been marketing for industrial processes for
making hot water (car wash). I see that home depot has been selling them
for a few years now too. I did clean the burner side two times but have not
heard anything about the water side needing cleaning. I would have liked to
mount it in the attic crawl space but it was easier to use the space in the
basement due to the exhaust already there.
